CALL FOR ARTISTS SPECIAL EXHIBIT
Jackson Junge Gallery is immediately seeking artists' submissions for their upcoming exhibition BRINGING SEXY BACK, opening on May 11, 2018 and running until July 1, 2018. Artists are encouraged to submit artwork that is engaged in a dialogue of sexual awareness.
Submissions for the exhibition are free.
Artists in all media are welcome to submit any work, or sketches and supporting documentation for proposals of future work, with their artistic interpretation incorporating themes revolving around sexuality in the world today.
The United States is going through a revolution of sexual awareness. Women and men alike are fighting for their right to be sexual without objectification. While many are unapologetically embracing and expressing their sexuality, others are still striving to be comfortable with sexuality. This revolution has opened doors to freedom of expression, enthusiastic consent, and an open dialogue about sexuality in the world. Some fear the potential backlash of this movement. In looking at past sexual movements, there are leaps forward and several steps back. How will this revolution of bringing sexy back be different?
The purpose of this exhibition is to showcase work that engages in this dialogue in a way that is open and accessible.
All submitted work MUST conceptualize the theme above. Priority and preference will be given to new works of art. Artworks must be professionally presented and ready for installation.
